Sustainability

We have been deeply committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint ever since we opened our first brewery in 2014. One of the ways we achieve this is by repurposing all our spent grain for animal feed. This practice not only ensures the grain is reused efficiently but also reduces the demand for feed grain that would otherwise need to be cultivated, thereby saving resources and lowering agricultural processing impacts. Over the course of a year, we divert more than 300 tonnes of spent grain to local farmers, supporting the agricultural community and contributing to a circular economy.

CIP Skid

We have recently implemented a CIP (Clean-in-Place) system, enabling us to recover water and chemicals used for cleaning tanks and packaging equipment. Since the installation of our CIP skid at the end of summer, we’ve made significant strides in resource conservation.

To date, this system has helped us save approximately 3,000 litres of water, 20 litres of detergent, and 20 litres of sanitising acid.

Looking ahead, we’re working to expand this system throughout all our cleaning processes in the brewery. If our current plans succeed, we anticipate an impressive annual saving of up to 40,000 litres of water, 240 litres of detergent, and 240 litres of sanitising acid. These savings not only reduce our environmental footprint but also improve the efficiency of our operations.

Kellogg's Partnership

Our collaboration with Kellogg's allows us to create delicious beers using upcycled cereal that would otherwise go to waste.

We originally teamed up with Kellogg's to create three sustainable beers using upcycled Corn Flakes, Coco Pops and Rice Krispies.

Each one is made from discarded grains created in the cereal cooking process. Still packed with taste and flavour, the rice-based flakes don’t quite make the grade required to get into the cereal boxes. But they’re not wasted!

As part of our commitment to creativity and sustainability, we’ve incorporated 500 kilograms of surplus cornflakes that we receive from Kellogg's into our brewing process over the past year. These cornflakes are a key ingredient in our Throwaway IPA, turning a potential waste product into a delicious craft beer. This approach aligns with our mission to minimise waste while crafting innovative and unique brews.

Our plans for the future

We are also excited to announce our journey toward B-Corp certification. B-Corporations are leaders in social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability striving to balance profit with purpose.

By joining the B-Corp community, we aim to contribute to a global shift that redefines success in business and fosters a more inclusive and sustainable economy. We look forward to being part of this transformative movement.

Our Pure Eco forum consists of members from all areas of our business, working collaboratively to uphold our mantra of “reduce, reuse, recycle.” Their ultimate goal is to minimise our environmental impact and lower our overall carbon emissions.

We're also working on a CO2 saving project, which we use to purge fermenters and to dispense the beer in all our bars.

Alongside starting the process of electricity saving/generating projects including solar and wind turbines. With the aim to implement all of the above by the end of 2025.

Our packaging is a sustainable choice, made from recycled paper fibres and is fully recyclable, minimising environmental impact. The corrugated fibreboard used excels as a reliable and responsible packaging solution, offering cost-effectiveness, protection, versatility and most importantly eco-friendliness.
